Marcus Rashford scored twice to help Manchester United beat Leicester City 3-0 in the Premier League on Sunday, continuing his impressive scoring streak. At Old Trafford, United can credit goalkeeper David De Gea with keeping the scoreline from two early on as Leicester dominated the attack. In the eighth minute, the Spanish goalkeeper stretched to deny opposing winger Harvey Barnes. Shortly after, he made an even bigger save by diving to stop a Kelechi Iheanacho header.

On the quarter-hour, the home side took the lead thanks to a goal from in-form striker Marcus Rashford, who netted against Danny Ward for his sixth consecutive goal in all competitions. With a one-goal advantage at half-time, United pulled away from Leicester in the second half. First, Rashford extended his side’s lead in the 56th minute with a composed finish. After a VAR review, the goal originally disallowed by the assistant referee’s offside flag was reinstated.
United’s third goal was then confidently netted by winger Jadon Sancho after a magnificent one-two with Bruno Fernandes as he entered the Leicester box. With the win, United are now just three points behind second-placed Manchester City. Nonetheless, Erik ten Hag’s side must now focus on the Carabao Cup, where they will face Newcastle United in Sunday’s league game at Wembley.

“We are close, but the two teams ahead of us are good teams and play good football. We just have to focus on ourselves, give our best and keep scoring points,” Rashford told Sky Sports. With a Europa League second leg against Barcelona and a cup final against Newcastle to come, United fans will be hoping Rashford’s prolific run continues.
“It’s still early in the season, we’re fighting for a lot of different things,” Rashford said. “We have another big game in the week [against Barcelona] to hopefully advance to the next round of the Europa League and then a huge game for us [in the cup final],” he added.
