“Experience Thrilling Adventure with Jet Shark’s Semi-Submersible Ride!”
If you like the idea of flying through the water like a dolphin, then the Seabreacher is the boat for you. But what if you want to bring more than one friend? Well, that’s where the Jet Shark comes in.
First off, if you’re not familiar with the Seabreacher…
It’s a dolphin- and shark-inspired watercraft, both darting along the surface And shoots several feet underwater for a few seconds before leaping back into the air. We actually tried the thing ourselves, 10 years ago. Then as now, its fighter jet-like cockpit only offered space for one pilot and one passenger.
Its new brother, the Jet Shark, addresses this limitation as the original 6m Q model can accommodate four adults in a watertight, air-conditioned cabin with large picture windows. Subsequent versions for up to six people are planned.
The body of the Jet Shark Q is primarily made of fiberglass, with carbon fiber used for critical parts

Everyone enters and exits the ship via double doors on either side, which can be left open on hot days if the craft just stays on the surface. And since the touchscreen displays and other controls are duplicated on the left and right sides of the dashboard, either passenger can act as the pilot.
The fully functional jet-powered Q prototype is powered by a naturally aspirated 420 hp Kodiak marine engine, which is a marine version of the new generation Corvette 6.2 liter V8 engine. Future models will offer 600 hp supercharged engines or diesel engines for use in tourism companies.
Rob Innes, founder of the Jet Shark company (and co-inventor of Seabreacher), tells us that while the prototype has a top speed of 45 mph, the commercial version should have a top speed of almost 55 mph. .
The Jet Shark cannot dive deeper than the tip of its snorkel fin

But how about a quieter, greener electric model? “Power boats have unique engineering challenges that make power plants even more challenging,” he told us. “As marine electric power plants become more available, we will definitely consider integrating them.”
And yes, like its smaller brother, the Jet Shark can shoot below the surface – to a maximum depth of around 1.5m. In doing so, its engine “breathes” through a protruding snorkel fin on top – this fin also houses a camera that allows the pilot to keep an eye on what is happening above the surface.
Dives are initiated via a combination of electro-hydraulically controlled dive planes (the equivalent of pectoral fins on its shark-like body), rear elevators, and a thrust vectoring system. And the Jet Shark Is Positively buoyant, meaning it will float to the surface if its engine stops or its cabin fills with water. It’s also reportedly self-righting, so it won’t stay upside down if it falls over.

The Jet Shark is currently still in the development phase and will require “a lot more testing and certification before it’s ready for the market” – but the company plans to start taking orders in early 2024. Buyers should expect to pay between $250,000 and $300,000.
“This ship was designed primarily based on the feedback we received from our more than 170 Seabreacher customers,” said Innes. “We want to give them all the excitement of the highly maneuverable seabreachers, but in a more comfortable, practical and reliable vessel. Still, it was very important to me that we created a very sleek, modern body design that doesn’t resemble an underwater minivan.”
It can be seen in action in the video below.
