The Importance of Humanitarian Tech

Founder of Isha Foundation Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev recently delivered a convocation address at JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU) in Mysore/Mysuru. Sadhguru emphasized the importance of technology and science for the benefit of society, urging engineers to focus on creating infrastructural facilities that benefit all living beings. He also stressed the importance of a humanitarian approach to science and technology, which can empower those who have concerns for society. Sustainability and reducing pollution, such as the use of polyester cloth, were also highlighted in the address. Additionally, Sadhguru advised engineering graduates to keep learning and use their knowledge for the betterment of society. A total of 1,604 students received various degrees and Ph.Ds at the convocation, including 986 BE, 54 BCA, 176 M.Tech, 103 MCA, 47 MSc., 227 MBA, and 11 Ph.Ds. Several distinguished guests attended the ceremony, including Chancellor of JSS STU and Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji and Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Andhra Pradesh (CUAP), Anantapur, Prof. S.A. Kori.

According to Sadhguru, engineers should focus on creating infrastructural facilities that benefit all living beings, including animals and birds. He also stressed the importance of a humanitarian approach to science and technology, which can empower those who have concerns for society. However, he warned that if technology and science are not based on a humanitarian approach, they can become dangerous.

Sadhguru also advised engineering graduates not to stop learning after completing their degree, as the real learning begins after graduation. He encouraged graduates to use their knowledge for the betterment of society and themselves.

In addition, Sadhguru highlighted the importance of sustainability and reducing pollution, such as the use of polyester cloth, which he warned may become a major environmental issue in the future. He called on society to take precautions and reduce the use of polyester cloth as much as possible.

Sadhguru also praised the conscience of questioning in India, which he believes has led to the country’s progress. He urged society to focus on positive development in all fields, including science and technology, to safeguard all living beings.

Finally, Sadhguru expressed his happiness about the increasing number of women engineering graduates in India, which he sees as progress compared to the situation 30 years ago.

The convocation ceremony saw a total of 1,604 students receive various degrees and Ph.Ds, including 986 BE, 54 BCA, 176 M.Tech, 103 MCA, 47 MSc., 227 MBA, and 11 Ph.Ds. Additionally, 56 medals were awarded, including 34 medals for top-scoring students in their respective branches and 22 Endowment Medals.

In conclusion, Sadhguru’s address emphasized the crucial role of technology and science in society and the need for a humanitarian approach to ensure their benefits for all living beings.
