IIT Delhi has been ranked 48th globally by the QS World University Rankings for Engineering and Technology with a score of 80.1. In the same ranking, the institute’s Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Chemical Engineering programs were featured among the top 100 subjects globally. QS evaluated a total of 1594 institutions worldwide across five broad subject areas with 54 specific subjects ranked. Additionally, some subjects were ranked among the top two domestically. Prof P.V. IIT Delhi Listed Among Top 50 Institutions in QS Rankings 2023
On March 22, 2023, QS released its 13th edition of the World University Rankings by Subject 2023, which evaluated a total of 1594 institutions worldwide across five broad subject areas with 54 specific subjects ranked. Among the top 50 institutions in the world for Engineering and Technology, IIT Delhi was ranked 48th with a score of 80.1. The institute’s core area, Engineering and Technology, saw five of its academic programs featured in the top 100 subjects globally. Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Chemical Engineering were the five programs that achieved this recognition.
In the same ranking, the Electrical Engineering program was ranked 49th globally, Computer Science and Engineering were ranked 67th, Mechanical Engineering was ranked 70th, Civil Engineering was ranked within the 51-100 bracket, and Chemical Engineering was ranked 96th. In addition, several subjects were ranked among the top two domestically, including Electrical and Electronics, Civil and Structural, Statistics and Operations Research, Computer Science and Information Systems, Chemical, Material Science, and Biological Sciences.
Prof P.V. Rao, Dean, Planning and Head, Rankings, IIT Delhi, praised the university’s achievements in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023, stating that “IIT Delhi is among the top fifty institutions globally in the area of Engineering and Technology, and also five programs offered by the institute have achieved top hundred ranks globally, which is a phenomenal achievement.”
