Apollo BGS Hospitals has launched an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based endoscopy technology called CAD Eye technology in Mysuru. The technology, which can distinguish between cancerous and non-cancerous lesions, is the first of its kind outside Japan and is set to improve early cancer detection rates, leading to better patient outcomes. The launch was made in partnership with FUJIFILM India, with Apollo BGS Hospitals not charging any extra fees for the new procedure. Additionally, the hospital has performed over 60 liver transplants and is the only licensed multiorgan transplant unit in Mysuru. Apollo BGS Hospitals in Mysuru has announced the launch of an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based endoscopy technology known as CAD Eye technology. The hospital is partnering with FUJIFILM India to introduce this state-of-the-art cancer detection technology outside of Japan for the first time.
The AI-based endoscopy was launched at the GI Update-2023 conference held at Hotel Radisson Blu Plaza in Mysuru, attended by more than 400 gastroenterologists and post-graduate students of surgery and medicine from different medical colleges in the state.
Dr. H. Basavanagowdappa, the Dean and Director of JSS Medical College, launched the technology in the presence of other medical professionals, including Dr. Rajkumar P. Wadhwa, Chief Gastroenterologist & Head of Institutes of Gastroenterology, and Dr. S. Nairuthya, Consultant Chief Gastrointestinal Surgeon.
The CAD Eye-based endoscopes provide early cancer detection, improving the chances of successful treatment. Dr. Rajkumar Wadhwa explained that the technology detects cancer early and enables endoscopic treatment. Additionally, Apollo BGS Hospitals is not charging any extra fees for the new procedure.
Moreover, the conference also witnessed the participation of Padma Bhushan Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman of Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, Hyderabad, and Prof. Hironori Yamamoto, Chairman and Professor of Gastroenterology and Director of Endoscopy Centre Jichi Medical University Hospital, Tochigi, Japan, who spoke about the importance of advancements in gastroenterology and the immense benefits of CAD Eye technology for colon and intestinal cancer patients.
