“Google Releases February 2023 Update for the Pixel Watch”

Google is often very good at providing timely updates to its Pixel phones, releasing new builds every month. The company is proving it can be just as good with the Pixel Watch as the February 2023 update rolls out to the wearable.

The update was first spotted by 9to5Google, although the official changelog was only released later. According to Google, the update is extremely light as there are no significant bug fixes or feature additions. The update will bring your Pixel Watch to build number RWD9.220429.075 (with a J1 variant for Japan and Taiwan) and only comes with the February security patch.

The update wasn’t immediately available on our Pixel Watch unit, but Android Central’s Nick Sutrich was able to update his watch manually. You can check for the update by navigating to Settings > System > System To update. If you’re stuck on “Your watch is up to date,” you can try tapping the screen continuously for several seconds to try and get the update (this worked for Nick).

This is the third update in a row that Google has released for the Pixel Watch. The December 2022 update started with several bug fixes, followed by the January 2023 update which was slightly smaller. Now that February is rolling in, Google has pretty good expectations for Pixel Watch updates, especially when compared to other Wear OS watches.

Meanwhile, the Pixel Watch is far from the only device being updated today. If you own a Pixel phone, Google is rolling out the February 2023 update to eligible devices as well. Surprisingly, the Pixel 4 and 4 XL are also getting the update, which Google Android Central says is the last update for the phones.
