Gary Ballance: Zimbabwe’s ex-batsman from England becomes second man to pass Test Centurys for two teams

Ballance played two one-day internationals and one T20 international against Ireland for Zimbabwe ahead of the friendly against the West Indies

Former England batsman Gary Ballance became the second person to pass a two-country Test century after failing to play for Zimbabwe against the West Indies in 137.

Ballance, 33, has returned to his home country after being released by Yorkshire following his involvement in the Azeem Rafiq racism scandal.

The left-hander reached his century with a six-time spinner Gudakesh Motie.

Ballance joins Kepler Wessels who produced barrels for Australia and South Africa.

Wessels scored four goals for Australia between 1982 and 1985 before scoring two for South Africa after they were allowed back into Test cricket in 1991.

Ballance completed four Test centuries for England between 2014 and 2017.

In November 2021, Ballance admitted to using racist language towards former Yorkshire teammate Rafiq.

Ballance was indicted by the England and Wales Cricket Board in 2021 on racism charges.

In August, Rafiq said he accepted an apology from Ballance and demanded that his former Yorkshire team-mate “be allowed to get on with his life”.

The rules of the International Cricket Council state that a player may change affiliation between full member nations if three years have elapsed since his last match for the country he is moving from.

The test between Zimbabwe and West Indies is likely to end in a draw due to rain disruptions on the first two days.
