Exploring the Possibilities of Google’s AI Program Bard for Baby Shower Planning

If you’ve ever needed the help of artificial intelligence to plan a friend’s baby shower, your time has come as Google officially unveiled its ChatGPT competitor, which it calls Bard.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced Bard on the company’s blog Monday, calling it “an important next step” in AI for the search engine giant.

“Bard seeks to combine the breadth of the world’s knowledge with the power, intelligence, and creativity of our large language models,” Pichai said. “It draws on information from around the web to provide fresh, quality answers.”

The company’s new AI chatbot is based on its Conversational Application Language Model (LaMDA) and is only available to a select group of testers.

Based on a video divided by Pichai on Twitter, users could use Bard to compare two Oscar-nominated films, generate lunch ideas based on the ingredients in someone’s fridge, or learn about the latest discoveries from the James Webb telescope.

According to Google, Bard will be open to the public in the next few weeks.

“It’s a really exciting time to be working on these technologies as we translate deep research and breakthroughs into products that really help people,” said Pichai.

Bard appears to be Google’s answer to ChatGPT, an AI-driven program that has skyrocketed in popularity in recent months after users shared posts of the tool used to compose Shakespearean poems, write musical lyrics and identify bugs in computer code.

ChatGPT, which stands for Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer, was developed by OpenAI, an artificial intelligence company, and is a chatbot – a computer program that converses with human users. The program uses an algorithm that selects words based on insights gained from scanning billions of pieces of text on the Internet.

Microsoft, which invested in OpenAI in 2019 and 2021, announced last month that it was renewing its partnership with the company and investing billions of dollars in the company.

According to Forbes, Microsoft is investing up to $10 billion in ChatGPT and may integrate it with its Bing search engine.
