Jennifer Nosakowski is a dedicated professional who currently serves as the BioMedical Science CTE Program Coordinator and Facilitator, Work-Based & Experiential Learning Coordinator, 9th & 12th Grade Advisory Curriculum Coordinator, and the varsity girls track and field coach. With a passion for helping students develop not only their content knowledge but also their employability skills, Jenny teaches mostly 10th-12th graders at Meridian Early College High School and coordinates 9th-12th grade high school curriculum.

Classroom Size and Area of Service

The BioMedical Science CTE classes that Jenny coordinates have a class size that ranges from 12 to 21 students. Currently, there are 11 work-based learning students in local businesses and 20 at Greater Michigan Construction Academy, as well as over 20 students placed in teaching aide positions across the Meridian Public Schools district. Advisory curricula impact approximately 200 students at the high school.

Jenny’s school culture at Meridian Early College High School is centered around equity and support. Meridian administrators, educators, and support staff strive to foster a culture of care to help students achieve social-emotional growth, academic and skills growth, and post-secondary college and career preparation. The school atmosphere is friendly, communication is open, and new ideas, feedback, and continual improvement is a shared value.

Goals for the School Year

Jenny’s primary goal is to provide students with authentic experiences and a collection of college and career opportunities as they develop skills and knowledge that will help them succeed in their next steps. To accomplish this, she is working to develop problem-solving, credentialing, and a variety of work-based learning opportunities for students to interact and connect with project partners and community members related to class content and their career interests.

Experience and Career Choice

Jenny has been in the teaching profession for eleven years, ten of which have been at Meridian Early College High School. As a career changer, Jenny saw an opportunity to bring her career experience and training from a full secondary science education program to help students develop their employability skills. Her students’ communication skills, ability to self-advocate, love of learning, curiosity, and confidence continually impress her as they work in the classroom, area businesses, and embark on their college courses.
