Baton Rouge man dies in hospital after Colbert County crash 1

COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A two-vehicle accident early Saturday in Colbert County resulted in the death of a Baton Rouge, Louisiana man, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

ALEA soldiers responded to a crash involving two vehicles around 5:08 a.m. Saturday on US 72 near mile 15, about seven miles east of Cherokee in Colbert County.

Authorities say Robert B. McCoin, 67, of Baton Rouge was seriously injured when the vehicle he was driving was struck by a tractor-trailer.

McCoin was taken to Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield, where he later died of his injuries.

ALEA says no further information is available at this time as soldiers continue to investigate the accident.
