Three people died after a car slammed into a utility pole and wall before bursting into flames Saturday night in the West Pullman neighborhood of Chicago, authorities said.

Police say officers were called to an illegal street racing scene in the 12000 block of South Halsted at around 10.58pm on Saturday.

When officers arrived, they saw a vehicle hit a pole and then hit a wall. The vehicle then caught fire.

When firefighters extinguished the blaze, a total of three people were found inside the vehicle, and all three were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The department’s major accident unit is investigating the crash, and no further details were immediately available.
