Grain Valley and a Senior Season Cut Short

Jacob Misiorowski was born in Blue Springs, Missouri, and grew up in Grain Valley, Missouri, where he pitched for Grain Valley High School. The COVID-19 pandemic ended his senior season before it could be played out.

He had committed to Oklahoma State. He changed his mind and went instead to a junior college close to home.

Bus Rides at Crowder College

Crowder College is in Neosho, in the southwest corner of Missouri. Misiorowski's first season there ended with an injury, and his coaches used the time to rework his delivery. "He came back, and there were just some things that were clicking different," head coach Travis Lallemand told Flashscore.

His sophomore season in 2022 was the one scouts remembered. He went 10-0 with a 2.72 ERA and struck out 136 batters in 76 innings. Junior college baseball meant long trips on the road. "Those 10-plus hour bus rides, they're tough. It was the grind I needed," he said later, adding, "I think Crowder gave me a whole different mindset."

Before the draft he had also committed to LSU.

Pick 63 in the 2022 Draft

The Milwaukee Brewers took him in the second round of the 2022 draft, 63rd overall. Draft coverage described a 6-foot-7 right-hander with a fastball that touched 100 mph and a wipeout slider, and noted that he came from the same school as Brewers pitcher Aaron Ashby.

The Brewers paid well above the slot. The recommended value for pick 63 was $1,131,500. Two signing trackers that followed the class reported his bonus as $2,350,000, about $1.2 million over slot.

Grain Valley News caught up with him on draft day. The first thing he did after the call, he said, was hug his parents. "I'm just a kid from Grain Valley who always had a dream to play pro ball and here we are now!" On the bus travel of the minor leagues, he added: "If we're taking busses to games, I'm used to it."

Nashville, Then Five Hitless Innings Against St. Louis

The Brewers moved him up to Triple-A Nashville in August 2024. He opened 2025 there and had a 2.13 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 13 appearances when the call came.

His major league debut was on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at home against the St. Louis Cardinals. He held them without a hit for five innings, struck out five and walked four on 81 pitches, then left the game with cramps in his legs. Milwaukee won 6-0.

An All-Star After Five Starts

A month later he was an All-Star. On July 11, 2025, the Associated Press reported that he had been named to the National League team as a replacement for Matthew Boyd, after five big league starts. He was 4-1 with a 2.81 ERA, and his fastball averaged 99.3 mph. AP noted that it would be the fewest big league games played by anyone before an All-Star selection. "I'm speechless," Misiorowski said. RotoWire's player notes call the pick a controversial replacement.

That October he pitched in relief against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL Championship Series. AP later put his line in that series at a 1.50 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 12 innings over three appearances.

1,115 Pitches at 100 mph in 2026

Misiorowski started Opening Day for the Brewers in 2026, and the season that followed put him in the record books for speed. By AP's count he threw 1,115 pitches at 100 mph or faster during the regular season, the most since pitch tracking began. The previous mark was 673, by Jordan Hicks in 2018. Flashscore reported a 103.7 mph pitch as the fastest by a starting pitcher in the tracking era.

The results matched the velocity. He led the majors with a 1.80 ERA, 252 strikeouts and a .157 opponents' batting average. AP wrote that only Sandy Koufax in 1965, J.R. Richard in 1979 and Mike Scott in 1986 had led the majors in all three since 1950. The Brewers won 103 games, a franchise record, and he went into October as the favorite for the NL Cy Young Award.

October Against San Diego and Los Angeles

He started Game 1 of the Division Series against the San Diego Padres on October 3, 2026, his first playoff start. His first pitch, to Fernando Tatis Jr., was clocked at 104.8 mph, the fastest postseason pitch since tracking began in 2008. The Padres fouled off 30 pitches and ran his count to 88 in four innings. He allowed two runs on four hits with six strikeouts, and the bullpen finished a 3-2 win. "Obviously, not the way I wanted it to go," he said.

Milwaukee won the series in four games, closing it out 3-1 in Game 4 on October 7, and drew the Dodgers again in the NLCS. Misiorowski started Game 1 on October 11. He needed 35 pitches in the second inning, gave up a run when Shohei Ohtani scored on a single by Andy Pages, and was out of the game in the fifth. Brice Turang homered and the bullpen held on for a 2-1 win. "His stuff wasn't great, no, it wasn't, but it's still pretty darn good," manager Pat Murphy said.

A $788,300 Contract and Team Control Through 2031

In March 2026 he signed a one-year contract for $788,300, the pay of a player not yet eligible for salary arbitration. Reporting that cites Spotrac says he reaches arbitration in 2029 and that the Brewers control his rights through 2031. As of July 14, 2026, no extension had been signed.

No reputable outlet has published a net worth estimate for him, and this article does not compute one. The two figures on record are the $2,350,000 signing bonus from 2022 and the $788,300 salary for 2026, both before taxes and agent fees. His 2025 pay and any endorsement income have not been reported.
