The display of TikTok and Instagram videos being tested on the Google app
The new feature would aim to keep users on Google's mobile app longer before they switch to another app or social network.
Videos from TikTok and Instagram may soon be visible from Google's mobile app. This is what suggests this new feature, currently in testing with some users and spotted by TechCrunch, reports 01net.
By doing a simple search on an American football team, journalists from the tech media have indeed seen a new carousel appear at the top of the search results. This one contained only short videos from TikTok and Instagram.

Retain Internet users
01net also tried the experiment with several searches but failed to obtain this display. The new functionality would therefore be in the testing phase and available only to certain users.
By clicking on the video, the user is not redirected to the application of the social network in question but to its mobile web version. This would be a new technique from Google to retain users longer on its application.
If the feature passes the test and is integrated by the Google teams into the application, other short-format videos could appear in this carousel. YouTube, for example, has also started broadcasting very short videos on the model of TikTok a few months ago, recalls 01net.
