Pinterest goes to stories
Unlike other social networks, stories on Pinterest are not ephemeral and can be found on user profiles.
After Twitter and Spotify, it's Pinterest's turn to succumb to the trend and integrate a carousel of stories on its mobile application. Users will thus be able to share short videos of their creation and inspiration of the moment.
If Pinterest already offered its users to post short videos, they were drowned in the mass of publications. The big change is that now these videos will be gathered at the top of the app, in a story carousel. They will therefore be more visible and more easily accessible. Enough to push users to consume more.
Stories displayed will come from people that users follow, but also from creators who may be of interest to them. They will also be arranged by theme. The objective is obviously to make more people known on the platform and therefore, to encourage users to spend more time on the application.
The choice of permanence
If Pinterest is the last to adopt the typical display of stories, the social network still stands out since the videos posted are not ephemeral. After a while, they disappear from the carousel, but will still be visible on their creators' profiles and will constitute a library of videos.
It should also be noted that only approved companies and creators can post stories. The functionality is therefore still very limited for the moment ...
The social network announced that the rollout of the new story carousel has started on iOS and Android. It should therefore arrive soon with us.
