OneDrive: Microsoft increases maximum file size
Limit drops from 100 to 250 GB on Microsoft's cloud service
Microsoft is adding another string to its bow in its showdown with other cloud giants by increasing the maximum file size that can be shared with OneDrive. Now users will be able to store files over 100 GB in the cloud, up to a limit of 250 GB.
Exponential demand
A little over a year ago, the maximum file size limit was set at 15 GB. Microsoft explains that it has increased exponentially to meet customer demand. Some business customers use it to save large files such as 4K or 8K videos, source code copies, or 3D visuals used in-game or animation development.
The volume increase is expected by the end of the first quarter of 2021.
It should be noted in passing that this increase in the size of shared files does not only concern OneDrive but also Sharepoint and Teams and therefore has a real interest in the context of teleworking.
