Justin Bates from Temple, Georgia, came in second, scoring 83.5 points, followed by Grayson Cole and Alex Marcilio, who tied for third place with a score of 83 points. The top six riders will advance to the next round, along with the top 30 cowboys, to compete again on Saturday. Kyle Jones wins Round 1 of the Wheeling Invitational
Kyle Jones from Troy, Missouri, emerged as the winner of Round 1 at the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Pendleton Whiskey Velocity Tour (PWVT) Wheeling Invitational. The sold-out WesBanco Arena witnessed his excellent performance on Walking Tall from CO Cattle Co. / Bob Whisnant, scoring 85.5 points.
Justin Bates from Temple, Georgia, came in second, scoring 83.5 points on Bet the Red from John Brennan/ Bucking Stock Talk. Alex Marcilio from Macaubal, Brazil, and Grayson Cole from New Ringgold, Pennsylvania, tied for third place, with a score of 83 points, riding Crossin’ the Delta Line from Dana White/ UBT/ DD, and Whiz from TC Bucking Bulls, respectively.
Zane Cook from Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, and Matt Allgood from Saline, Michigan, completed the list of riders who qualified for Round 1, scoring 78 points on Hammerhead from Cornwell Bucking Bulls, and 77.5 points on Slick from Obernagel/Sho-Me Rodeo, respectively.
All six riders, along with the top 30 cowboys, will compete again on Saturday, March 18, at 7 p.m. The top 12 riders from Round 2 will advance to the championship round.
