Believeinthespirit became the only horse to win twice in the third and final preliminary leg of the Game Of Claims Pacing Series for $7,500 base-tag pacers. The Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania hosted five $7,500 divisions on Monday afternoon, where none of the winners on the day were claimed by anyone. Simon Allard drove two first-time starters at this GOC level to victory, Don’t Get Shocked and Three Ways N, who posted a 1:52.4 time and a 1:55.1 success, respectively. However, Don’t Get Shocked is unlikely to earn a starting spot in next Monday’s $15,000 final since participation in the series is rewarded each start. The other Monday cut was won by Bettor’s Western, who seems a good proposition to qualify for the Championship. The Game Of Claims Championships will be the highlight of the upcoming three-day racing week at Pocono, featuring a $40,000 final for the success stories for the base-$25,000 tag in their preliminaries, along with a $25,000 pace for the fast-class set.
Believeinthespirit Claims Victory Twice in Game of Claims
Believeinthespirit, an Art Major harness racing horse, has become the only horse to win twice in the third and final preliminary leg of the Game Of Claims Pacing Series for $7,500 base-tag pacers on Monday afternoon (March 20) at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania. The veteran gelding, owned by Crit Walsh and Lily Cimino, was driven by Anthony Napolitano and won his first series start by taking a length decision over Soho Wallstreet A in 1:55.1. Trainer Crit Walsh, driver Anthony Napolitano, and Lily Cimino also had another Game of Claims winner in partnership with Just Enough LLC, Pack Your Bags, whom they claimed last week and won for them in 1:55.3. None of the winners on the day were claimed by anyone.
Simon Allard drove two first-time starters at this GOC level to victory. Don’t Get Shocked (Ponder) recently joined the Jody Dunning barn at Rosecroft and was the best against his GOC opposition, posting a 1:52.4 time, a new mark in the series. This time was faster than the fastest mile for $25,000-based horses on Saturday and for $15,000-based horses on Sunday. However, he is unlikely to earn a starting spot next Monday’s $15,000 final since participation in the series is rewarded each start. Allard’s other winner was Three Ways N (Mach Three), who dropped from a higher series level and posted a 1:55.1 success. The other Monday cut was won by Bettor’s Western (driver George Napolitano Jr.), who added a 1:55 victory to previous thirds in the series and seems a good proposition to qualify for the Championship.
The Game Of Claims Championships will be the highlight of the upcoming three-day racing week at Pocono, featuring a $40,000 final for the success stories for the base-$25,000 tag in their preliminaries, along with a $25,000 pace for the fast-class set.
