LSU’s Angel Reese led the Tigers to a resounding 66-42 victory over Michigan in the second round of the NCAA women’s tournament. Reese put up an impressive 25 points, 24 rebounds, six blocks, and three steals despite suffering a gunshot to her mouth early on in the game. LSU held Michigan to their lowest point total of the season, with Laila Phelia’s 20 points not enough to overcome the Tigers’ dominance. LSU coach Kim Mulkey continued her winning streak against Michigan’s Kim Barnes Arico, with a 3-0 record in NCAA tournament meetings.
In contrast, Michigan suffered an early exit from the tournament, marking their earliest since 2019. Despite reaching the regional finals last season and the regional semifinals in 2021, the Wolverines fell short this year. Their lowest point this season was a 52- loss to Indiana in February.
