The list of foods that can be safely frozen is much longer than the list of foods to never put in the freezer. Indeed, many foods that we do not think about can be kept in the freezer. Find out which ones.
Keep fruits and vegetables longer, prepare ready meals in advance, taste products out of season… Ultra practical or even essential, the freezer saves us the bet regularly. If we already use it to freeze our fruits and vegetables, meats, or bread, we do not necessarily have the reflexes for certain foods that are freezable. So we are not told everything?
Chips
To keep your chips as fresh as they are crispy once the package is opened, simply freeze them. For this, place them in a hermetically sealed freezer bag and keep them for up to a year in the freezer. To enjoy them, no need for thawing: the chips never freeze. Enjoy them cold or leave them on a few hours before.
Egg white
You have used only the yolks of your eggs and you do not know what to do with the whites? Rather than throwing them in the trash (or in the sink), place them in freezer bags for later use, especially for making foams. Be careful, the shelf life of your egg whites should not exceed four months. It is, therefore, better to write the deadline on the bag before storing them in the freezer.
Coffee
Whether ground or in beans, coffee lends itself easily to freezing. Place it in an airtight box or bag, ideally vacuum, in a freezer for several months at temperatures ranging from -18 °C to -25 °C. To use it, you will only have to wait a few minutes before pouring it into the filter of coffee maker. Enjoy!
Milk
To stop running out of milk, go through the freezing box. To do this, place your milk in the freezer in its original container. The shelf life should not exceed six months or even two months for whole milk. As a reminder, frozen dairy products must be thawed in the refrigerator and not at room temperature so as not to promote microbial multiplication. Allow eight to ten hours of thawing and stir before use.
Pasta (pizza, broken, puff pastry, cookies…)
You have just prepared a homemade dough (pizza, broken, puff pastry, or cookies) and do not know what to do with the piece that remains? Rather than throwing it in the trash, store it in the freezer. To do this, spread the pulp on parchment paper before wrapping it in food film. You can use it up to four months after the freezing date. Allow about two hours to thaw a spread dough, and half a day if it is in a ball.
Walnuts and almonds
Dried fruits, too, lend themselves to freezing. To extend the shelf life of your almonds and walnuts, place them in the freezer. Count twelve months for shelled fruits, twenty-four for those who remain in their shells. To thaw them, place your freezer bag or airtight box in the refrigerator for six to eight hours. You can also put the fruit in a strainer or dip it for a few minutes in hot water to speed up the process.
