Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs or cookies of choice
  • ½ cup melted butter

For the Filling:

  • 3 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sugar (adjustable to taste)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup flour

For the Topping:

  • 3 apples, sliced
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ cup caramel sauce
  • Whipped cream (optional)

Method

1. Make the Crust

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Mix graham cracker crumbs with melted butter.
  3. Press the mixture into a 9-inch springform pan.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes and let cool.

2. Prepare the Filling

  1. Beat softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
  3. Stir in sour cream and flour until combined.
  4. Pour the filling over the prepared crust.

3. Bake in a Water Bath

  1. Place the pan in a water bath to prevent cracks.
  2. Bake for 50–60 minutes until set but slightly jiggly in the center.
  3. Cool in the oven with the door slightly open for 1 hour, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

4. Prepare the Topping

  1. Melt butter in a skillet, then add sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. Cook until apples are tender and caramelized. Let cool slightly.

5. Assemble the Cheesecake

  1. Top the chilled cheesecake with the caramelized apples.
  2. Drizzle caramel sauce over the apples.
  3. Garnish with whipped cream for added indulgence, if desired.

Tips for Perfect Results:

  • Use a springform pan: Ensures easy removal and presentation.
  • Don’t skip the water bath: It helps maintain a creamy texture and prevents cracking.
  • Adjust sweetness: Reduce sugar for a less sweet, more balanced dessert.
  • Chill thoroughly: Allowing it to set overnight enhances the flavors and texture.
