Cape Rep Theatre has announced that their 2023 season will open with the world premiere of Archibald Avery, a musical created by local artists Paddo Devine, Seamus Devine, and Macklin Devine. The show will be directed by Maura Hanlon and will take place at Cape Rep’s Indoor Theater from April 12 to May 7, with performances scheduled from Wednesday to Saturday at 7 pm and Sundays at 2 pm. Ticket prices are set at $40, with a reduced rate of $25 available for those 25 years old and under. The first Friday of the show’s run will be Pay-What-You-Can-Night.

Archibald Avery is a unique musical based on the original characters and poetry of Macklin Devine. The show’s book, music, and lyrics were created by the three Devine brothers. The story follows a writer who is struggling to meet a deadline and ends up writing about a strange old man living in a creepy house. It explores the mythology of childhood fears and the scary world of grown-ups, taking the audience on a fascinating journey through the creative process.

The show’s scenic design will be handled by Ryan McGettigan, while Phil Kong will be in charge of the lighting design. The costumes will be designed by Robin McLaughlin.
