The trial of R. Kelly for producing child pornography images postponed
This is the third time that the judge has postponed the first hearing date because of the Covid-19 pandemic
R. Kelly sees his wait in prison extended. The R&B singer was arrested in 2019 and has since been waiting behind bars for four trials, all related to child sexual abuse. The one planned in Chicago has been postponed to September 13, 2021.
The federal judge in charge of the case had already postponed it to April and then to October 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. This trial should last three weeks as reported by Billboard . R. Kelly is accused of filming his sex with underage women and bribing witnesses to change their story.
Not out of the woods
If R. Kelly succeeds in having the charges against him dropped, as was the case in 2004, three other trials await him. He must be tried from April 7 by the Federal Court in New York for racketeering. He is accused of having made a minor journey to several American states for the purpose of having sex with her.
Two more trials, this time criminal, are also expected in Illinois and Minnesota. Each is linked to underage sexual abuse. The interpreter of I Believes I Can Fly pleaded not guilty each time.
