Mads Mikkelsen had no contact with Johnny Depp
Danish actor resumed role of Grindelwald character in emergency after Johnny Depp ousted
In early November, the studio's Warner invited Depp to abandon the role of Grindelwald, the villain of Fantastic Animals in the wake of its defeat in court against the Sun. The actor had not flinched - pocketing, all the same, his full stamp in passing - leaving room for Mads Mikkelsen who, to hear him, had no contact with his predecessor.
" No, I do not know him. I met him once. I wish I had had his phone, but I don't. To be honest, there is nothing else I can do. The only approach I can have is to bridge the gap between what he's done and what I'm going to do and we'll see what happens, ”the Danish actor assured AP Entertainment.

Until the last resort
While there will be no turnaround regarding the departure of Johnny Depp from Fantastic Beasts, the actor is still trying to win the lawsuit between him and the British tabloid for libel. After seeing a first appeal denied, the actor filed an appeal with the British Court of Appeal in early December and is now awaiting the verdict.
In parallel, the actor is preparing to start another trial, which will oppose him to his ex-wife, Amber Heard, in May 2021 in the United States.
