Stewed cabbage with apple and clove

This simple dish in Germany is often used as a side dish for meatloaf and not only.

Ingredients

An Apple1 piece
Red cabbage1 head
Butter4 tbsp. spoons
Sugar80–100 g
Ground cloves1 pinch
Apple vinegar120 ml
Lemon juice1 tbsp. the spoon
Salttaste
Ground black peppertaste
Greenerytaste


Cooking

1. 

Grate the apple on a coarse grater or cut into small pieces. The peel can not be removed, just cut the seeds. Chop the cabbage.

In a pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Put cabbage with apple and mix well.

After 5 minutes, sprinkle with sugar and cloves, pour with vinegar. Stir again and add lemon juice.

When the liquid begins to boil, reduce the heat to low and simmer under the lid for about 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.

Season the prepared cabbage with salt and pepper, sprinkle with chopped herbs.
